Someone Has Died - a silly game about serious business

Created by Gather Round Games

Someone Has Died is an improvisational storytelling game that takes one of the coldest and most arduous legal procedures a person can endure and turns it into a gut-busting, baby role-playing game that players of all skill levels can enjoy.

Latest Updates from Our Project:

Summer Convention Line-Up!
almost 6 years ago – Sat, Jun 02, 2018 at 12:26:45 AM

Howdy folks!

Convention Season is rapidly approaching! Here's a handful of the events we've confirmed over the coming few months:

We're excited to announce that we've been selected to partake in the Tabletop Showcase at the Connecticut Festival of Indie Games, which is taking place at ConnectiCon in Hartford. We went to ConnectiCon last year and it was one of our favorite events that we've attended. It's coming up quickly in July, and we just cannot wait!

NOT MESSIN' AROUND THIS YEAR GUYS. WE'RE GOING TO GEN CON! Incredibly stoked to be attending the best four days of gaming this year! We will be running demo events Friday through Sunday. Click here to check out our schedule and sign up to play a game with us! We'll even be breaking out the dirty deck for the first time at specially marked events. So brace yourselves!

Once again, we will be attending PAX West this year. More details on where we'll be to come, but the Pacific Northwest will be getting a MAJOR visit from Gather Round Games (that's us, by the way).

If you're attending any of these events, please do come find us and say hello! Should we have a code word? "Spiderface"? Nah, that's weird... forget it.

In Other News...

Our games are currently in production! Printing is estimated to be done on June 30th. Then, the games will be put on a boat and shipped to two fulfillment centers - one in the US and one in the UK. Righty-oh!

Also, did you see our fancy new product photos? Check out the full album on our Facebook!

We're hard at work on our residency. The art for our sympathy cards is all done and ready for print! We've also just wrapped up all the text for those of you  who pledged to receive custom obituaries. We hope you'll enjoy them; they are very dark and silly.

Thanks for reading! xoxo, Liz & Adi

BOX REVEAL & Q&A on MONDAY!!
about 6 years ago – Sun, May 06, 2018 at 01:16:14 AM

Hey friends!!

If you follow us on our socials, you will have seen that we got our revised prototype yesterday!! And guess what? It's perfect!!

We did an impromptu box reveal on Facebook Live because we couldn't wait to show off the final product! If you missed it, don't worry, because it's immortalized forever on our Facebook page.

ALSO, we'll be doing a follow-up Q&A on Monday at 1:30PM EST on Kickstarter Live. We'll show off the box more in-depth and would love to answer any questions you might have about the game, the design/production process, or our food preferences/allergies. Tune in and ask us anything!

Thanks for bearing with us through our production hiccup. We hope you're as excited about the final product as we are.

A Production Schedule Update
about 6 years ago – Tue, Apr 24, 2018 at 01:18:11 AM

Hey there!

We're coming at ya with some good news and some bad news.

The good news is that we returned from PAX East to find our very first prototype from our printer waiting to be opened at my doorstep. This was very exciting; we tore it open and A LOT of it was great: the design came out super clean, the size is cute and super portable, and the quality of the product we received was very professional.

The not so good news, is that we did find a handful of details we wanted to change. Some of the graphics on the box came out misaligned and we found a few errors and typos that we didn't want to let slide. We have also decided to switch up some of the card stock we originally selected, particularly with the expansion tuckbox - it looks great but is a little thin and we don't want to produce something that will dent after a few uses.

For these reasons, the new estimate for when the project will be fulfilled is August 2018, as opposed to June as we originally listed on Kickstarter.

We hope you believe us when we say we are the most bummed about not being able to have the product in your hands when we initially estimated. But, at the end of the day, we don't want to give you anything that isn't the absolute best we can make it. So, hopefully this will turn out to be good news. Now we won't have "fortune" and "will" misspelled on the boxes.

Given our new fulfillment schedule, we're adjusting our convention plans accordingly. Our grand tour will likely start in the fall instead of summer as planned. But we'll keep ya'll posted as we begin to lock where in the world we'll be and when.

We're also well on our way preparing our rewards for ya'll. We've got one sympathy card locked and the other two are in the works. They're looking really cute and silly so far - we hope you all will really love them.

You know what, what the heck. Here's the first one:

Hope you like it!
